Sources: Misfits Premier to sign former Astralis jungler Zanzarah

Misfits Premier are acquiring former Astralis jungler Nikolay “Zanzarah” Akatov, sources tell Upcomer on Friday.

Misfits’ secondary team, which competes in La Ligue Française League Of Legends, are sending former jungler Kristian “TynX” Østergaard to MAD Lions Madrid in the Superliga, as previously reported by Upcomer. Misfits Premier gave tryouts to Team Oplon jungler Bruno “Bruness” Freund and MOUZ jungler Linas “Lyncas” Nauncikas for the position, sources said, prior to Zanzarah earning the spot.

While mostly known for their team competing in the League of Legends European Championship, Misfits became a staple team in the French regional league with Misfits Premier. The squad has found success in the league, too, and managed to win the LFL finals both in 2020 and 2021.

This year, Misfits Premier finish fourth during the LFL regular season. They ended up losing in playoffs against Vitality.Bee and failed to qualify for the spring edition of European Masters.

Zanzarah, 25, most recently competed with Astralis in the LEC. The team finished 10th with a 3-15 record in a disappointing spring split. Zanzarah ended up being replaced by jungler Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir as Astralis tried to find their footing.
