Journey to the top

On May 1, the live Arena World Championship broadcast for the Europe region began with a match between Skill Capped and Method EU.

The teams first clashed in the Nagrand Arena. While Skill Capped had a paladin, priest and mage, the opposing team fought with priest, mage and rogue. Although Method EU fought valiantly in game one, it was over when the rogue went down with one second left on Cloak of Shadows.

Skill Capped then achieved another victory in Hook Point. The team’s paladin used crowd control on the enemy shaman before bursting him down with attacks.

Method EU had to bring it back in game three, but Tol’viron Arena went to Skill Capped. The winning team achieved a score of 3-0, which earned them a spot in the upper bracket semifinals. Skill Capped went 3-0 against CREED in that bracket.

Although Method EU got pushed into the Arena World Championship’s elimination bracket, they fought back by going 3-0 against Reload Esports. This meant they had to fight against CREED afterwards. The match was close as Method EU managed a score of 3-2, which earned them a spot in the finals.

For the second time that day, Skill Capped went up against Method EU.

The teams fought against each other in Nagrand Arena once more. When Skill Capped’s paladin landed a stun on Method EU’s priest, it was soon over. With the help of the mage, Skill Capped defeated the opposing team’s healer.

In game two, both teams clashed in Tol’viron Arena, with Skill Capped taking a point when the team cornered Method EU’s priest. Skill Capped earned another point in Ashamane’s Fall when they took down the enemy rogue. Method EU’s mage had used Ice Block earlier on and the team’s priest didn’t have a trinket.

The next game of the Arena World Championship Season 1 Finals involved both teams fighting in the Hook Point arena. Method EU had to bring it back to deny Skill Capped a clean sweep. Although Method EU’s mage was at low health near the end of the game, he continued to do damage against Skill Capped’s priest. This eventually took the priest down. Method EU then obtained another victory in Tiger’s Peak.

When it all came down to the Dalaran Sewers, Skill Capped put pressure on the opposing team. Method EU’s mage had to use Ice Block when he became dangerously low on health. At the same time, the paladin used Divine Shield to survive. However, Skill Capped’s players cast a Mass Dispel alongside a Polymorph against Method EU’s mage and paladin. Soon after, Skill Capped succeeded in defeating the enemy mage.

With a final score of 4-2, Skill Capped became the regional champions of the World of Warcraft Arena World Championship Season 1 Finals.
