SeoMinSoo returns, joins Hangzhou Spark

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The Overwatch League is getting a fan favorite back in the scene. The Hangzhou Spark has signed Korean DPS player Min-soo “SeoMinSoo” Seo, formerly of the Vancouver Titans and original RunAway roster. After a long time away from the league, due to the Titans splitting up early in last season, he’s finally returned. This was a surprise to all, and adds to the list of former Titans back in the league.

An experienced past

For those who don’t know, SeoMinSoo was on a very popular roster for a long time. That roster was the original RunAway roster that sent the Overwatch scene alight. Along with teammates Hyeon-Woo “JJANU” Choi, Hyojong “Haksal” Kim, Sang-beom “Bumper” Park, they dominated Korean Contenders. Their popularity grew massively, and when they won the last contenders season before the second Overwatch League season, fans knew they would join it. Fittingly, that same roster became the original Vancouver Titans roster two seasons ago.

The team started well and never slowed down. That rookie roster was great and finished top in the league despite coming in second in the finals. Some bumps were hit along the road, but all signs pointed to another good season. Another season to try to win the championship they were so close to winning. But, the pandemic struck. Players feuded with management, and after months of controversy, the team disbanded from the Titans organization. This, of course, included SeoMinSoo, who didn’t join another team until the Spark.

A good pickup

Now for the Spark, this pickup is a no brainer. SeoMinSoo was a runner-up for both Rookie of the Year and MVP just one season ago. However, this was during the GOATs meta where team coordination was key. Either way, he proved as an adaptable and highly skilled DPS player. Also with SeoMinSoo, the Hangzhou Spark has filled its roster to the twelve-man max. Even though this does finish its roster, this move is the best kind to make, as SeoMinSoo is a very flexible player with major experience in the league. As a true flex DPS player, getting SeoMinSoo is nothing but a good pickup.
