Ezra “Samsora” Morris and Elliot “Ally” Carroza-Oyarce won Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Doubles at MomoCon 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia on May 24. The duo entered the tournament under the name “Snake is nice.” It was their first time teaming together in a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Doubles tournament.
Samsora and Ally made top 8 on winners side by defeating Scot “Scot” Burnett & Ricky “LingLing” Cortez and Kolawole “Salt One” Aideyan & Khalil “HyperKirby” Malik. They dropped into losers bracket after losing to Darius “Laid” Hill and Markeis “Ross” Ross. However, Samsora and Ally went on a losers run that included wins over Samuel “Dabuz” Buzby & Brian “Cosmos” Kalu, Gavin “Tweek” Dempsey & Zack “CaptainZack” Lauth, and Laid & Ross.
Samsora and Ally won MomoCon Doubles by double eliminating Leonardo “MkLeo” Perez & Tyler “Marss” Martins in Grand Finals. MkLeo and Marss also entered a joke name, “Skrrrrrt.” The name was an oversight on the part of Marss.

The winning team
Both Samsora and Ally have had strong results in the first six months of Ultimate’s lifespan. Samsora has only missed top 8 in a Smash Ultimate event at Frostbite 2019, where he placed 13th in both Singles and Doubles. He won Singles at Kawaii Kon 2019 over Larry “Larry Lurr” Holland and James “VoiD” Makekau-Tyson. Samsora also won Doubles at Come to Papa 3, alongside Antony “MuteAce” H.
Ally has won Singles at a plethora of Canadian regionals. He has also won Doubles with numerous partners. Ally’s Doubles victories include Super Splat Bros. with VoiD, Glitch 6 with MkLeo, LAN ETS 2019 with Tamim “tamim” Omary, and Frozen Phoenix 2019 with Aaron “Blacktwins” Grandison-Vargas. His most notable Singles victory was Pound 2019, where he beat Dabuz, Robert “Myran” Herrin, and Joshua “Pelca” Bedoya.
Other MomoCon Doubles results
Considering the high caliber of players in attendance, Laid & Ross made an unexpected run to Winners Finals. Along the way, they defeated Javier “JKid” Tirado & Jared “Lazyboredom” Hubbard, Dabuz & Cosmos, Griffin “Fatality” Miller & Dakota “Ai!” N, and Ally & Samsora. Their run ended at third, as they lost to MkLeo & Marss, and fell to Samsora & Ally in the rematch in Losers Finals.
Cosmos & Dabuz placed 5th in MomoCon Doubles without even playing their main characters. Cosmos played Corrin instead of Inkling, while Dabuz played Rosalina & Luma instead of Olimar. These were the characters they mained in Smash 4. Despite using these characters less frequently in Ultimate, they were able to overcome teams like Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada & Paris “Light” Ramirez and Chris “WaDi” Boston & Ramin “Mr. R” Delshad.
MomoCon 2019 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Singles will begin on May 25.
