This week has been a busy one for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players, with a new update including Online Tourney mode and the Hero DLC character from Dragon Quest. There is now slight reason to believe a fourth DLC fighter (following Banjo-Kazooie as the third and Joker as the first) could be revealed at EVO 2019, which is currently underway this weekend.
Nintendo changes its website slightly
According to rumors and some keen observations, Nintendo has removed the “new” label from the Fighters section of the Smash Bros. website. Apparently, when this has happened in the past, it has suggested that Nintendo is about to announce a new fighter joining the already massive Smash roster. Could we really see the announcement at EVO? That remains to be seen. Nintendo will be there so it makes sense. The one thing I will question is that the Hero DLC just released this week. Why would Nintendo release or reveal another new character so close to this one’s release? He hasn’t even been out a week yet. In any case, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the final game of EVO 2019 this year.
We haven’t really gotten any major hints about who the fourth or fifth characters could be in the Fighters Pass. Nintendo is known for surprising their fans though. Everyone will just need to keep their eyes and ears open this Sunday for any big Smash news. What we do know is Nintendo has previously said that all the DLC characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be out by February 2020. It’s only August of 2019, so we have plenty of time before then. Perhaps we should all just enjoy the content for a while first before we rush Nintendo.
You can be sure we will have all your EVO 2019 news and reveals right here on Daily Esports, so stay tuned, Smash fans!
