Just days before RLCS Season 7, Psyonix has announced the Esports Shop, a shop for in-game items to represent your favorite organizations, is launching on April 16, with a full update including Rocket Pass 3 on April 17. This comes as a huge but very welcome surprise, as the feature has been one of, if not the, most requested features in Rocket League esports’ history. While the details have yet to be shared, Psyonix said that they are ready to show off the shop and its items next week.
A long-awaited reveal
Many fans believed Rocket League esports were being held back by the small scale and lack of features. Organizations were hesitant to jump into the scene, while fans repeatedly doubted Psyonix could make the necessary steps. With several organizations having left the scene already, things were starting to look a bit scary. Yet at the same time, large organizations such as TSM joined the scene. And despite Psyonix’s promise that organization items were to be introduced before the end of RLCS Season 7, fans were starting to get nervous.
Now, out of nowhere and against all predictions, we will be getting this shop on the 16th. The feature comes within the first few weeks of the season of RLCS, which starts this weekend on April 6 and 7.
Rocket Pass 3
Alongside the Esports Shop Update, we’ll also get Rocket Pass 3. Similar to Fortnite’s Battle Pass, the Rocket Pass 3 is the third iteration of a progression system to unlock new and unique items. While we haven’t yet seen what kind of rewards and challenges this Rocket Pass will entail, we did speak of what we would like to see this time around. The full update and Rocket Pass 3 launch one day after the shop on April 17.
In other news — Replay FX
Additional to the update is the Replay FX feature, which will allow players to add extra effects to their replay files. This includes effects such as depth of field, different backgrounds, green screen effects, color adjustments, and more. While the full control suite will be available when it goes live, Psyonix does note that it’s a beta feature.
