RLCS Season 8 Roster Shuffle Roundup: Part 1

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s that time of the year again. The RLCS off-season roster shuffle has begun, and we’re already seeing some juicy changes. Following the big news of Pierre “Turbopolsa” Silfver’s transfer to North America to join NRG, here are all the other confirmed and rumored changes so far.

Aztral joins Dignitas

With Turbopolsa’s departure from Dignitas, the team that many considered the best to have ever played Rocket League has completely split up. Turbo will be replaced by the Belgian Maello “Aztral” Ernst, a promising bubble player who will make his debut on the largest stage. His addition to the Dignitas roster also means we see a Belgian player in the RLCS for the first time. Together with Jos “Violentpanda” van Meurs and Maurice “Yukeo” Weihs, they’ll look to bring Dignitas back to glory.

The Peeps pick up mist

Two teams will promote to the North American RLCS in Season 8, and Nick “mist” Costello will switch from one to the other. Having secured promotion with his team Birds and the Beez, mist allegedly left the team in order to try to join Ghost instead. Now, however, The Peeps have announced his addition to their team. Why this happened is unknown, but perhaps it has something to do with Treyven “Lethamyr” Robitaille being sent to an inactive role. Rumor has it that Matthew “Drippay” Den-Kaat is their new target.

Arsenal signs with SpaceStation Gaming

SSG removed Matthew “Satthew” Ackermann, most likely in order to find a speedier player. They found this in Tshaka “Arsenal”, who will come over from the aforementioned The Peeps. The American will make his debut in the RLCS after coming second in the RLRS and promoting in favor of Splyce, but will now play for SpaceStation instead.

EyeIgnite to Triple Trouble?

Jordan “EyeIgnite” Stellon recently said that his team TSM was going to stick together. But suddenly, he signed up for DreamHack Montreal on Triple Trouble in favor of Andy “Kassio” Landais. This sparked a discussion on the Rocket League Esports subreddit, which quickly turned into a heated string of comments between EyeIgnite himself and former teammate Remco “Remkoe” den Boer. Obviously, something has gone wrong here and we won’t likely see EyeIgnite on TSM next season. True, his addition to Triple Trouble is not set in stone yet. However, he has now signed up with them for two tournaments in a row.

Al0t on his way to The Bricks?

Linus “Al0t” Möllergren relegated twice in a row now but found his way back onto an RLCS team every time. Having dropped to RLRS with mousesports, Al0t has now signed up with The Bricks for multiple tournaments. And it seems to have clicked well. If Al0t were to permanently join them, the possibility exists that he would also bring his organization with him. The Bricks have been looking to sign an org since they left Flipsid3 Tactics due to contractual reasons. While that’s just speculation, Al0t’s addition to The Bricks looks more and more likely now that we’ve started to run out of RLCS caliber free agents.
