Renault Vitality took the crown of RLCS analyst John “Johnnyboi_i” MacDonald’s FusionRL tournament, which combines all three Rocket League game modes of 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3. Each with their own single-elimination bracket, all grand finals featured the french trio of Renault Vitality, and it was nearly unthinkable that they’d ever let it slip from their fingers with so many opportunities to seal the deal. And they didn’t disappoint.

Renault Vitality, the giants of EU

With three grand finals, Renault Vitality only needed to win one to claim the championship. Ending up at least second in the other two brackets would ensure them enough points to win the entire tournament. In the 3v3 final, they were up against Oxygen Esports and surprisingly lost it. But fortunately, they still had a shot in 2v2 and 1v1.

In 2v2, they were up against Oxygen once more. Oxygen are looking like another European powerhouse with their most recent addition of Maëllo “AztraL” Ernst, who came from Dignitas, but this time RV got their revenge by sweeping them 4-0.

When the 1v1 final began, RV had already ensured their FusionRL championship. That didn’t detract from the excitement, however. RV’s Victor “Fairy Peak” Locquet proved he remains the 1v1 god of Rocket League, though his opponent, Khalid “OKhaliD” Qasim, was definitely not a pushover. Going down 1-3 in the series, Fairy Peak had to come back, and he did so in spectacular fashion. With a game 7 overtime, Fairy secured the final points for RV and put them at a lonely height above the rest.

With Johnnyboi’s Salt Mine 1v1 tournament coming up later this month, Fairy has a shot at defending his 1v1 throne. It cannot be disputed that he is the greatest of all time, as even in a time where he focuses more on 3v3, his instincts continue to lead him to victory.
