Razer expands their Basilisk family.
As Razer dives further into all aspects of esports, it continues to release new products. The team is targeting pro gamers, techies, and streamers regardless of their budget. If you have the big dollars, you can drop them on the Nari Ultimate, or the Razer Blade, one of Razer’s favorite products of 2019. If you’re more on the budget side, then the fresh new Kraken is a great go-to. However, now you can also add the Basilisk Essential to the list if you’re on a budget.
Since it was first released in 2017, the Basilisk has been one of the best-selling gaming mice, winning multiple awards. But the Basilisk is still over $100, at least in Australia ($69.99 USD, $119.96 AUD). It’s not a lot, but if you’re wanting something a little cheaper, Razer has you covered. For only $49.99 USD ($79.95 AUD), you can pick up a fantastic RBG mouse. The Basilisk Essential comes with seven programmable buttons, only one less than its parent. It has plenty of durability, a 6,400 DPI Optical Sensor, and yes, there’s still all the fancy Chroma lighting!
A rubber thumb grip makes for a comfortable addition, and its light weight is perfect for traveling. It only weighs 95 grams. My only beef with this mouse is the shape. Personally, I prefer the symmetrical look and feel of something like the Razer Deathadder. Call me OCD, but there’s something nice about balance. Plus, mice like the Deathadder can be used ambidextrously, whereas the Basilisk is designed specifically as a right-handed mouse. But hey, the Deathadder comes in an Essential version too! At the same price, it’s simply a matter of choice, but the Basilisk is more durable than the Deathadder. So I guess it depends on how rough you want to play with your mice. What’s your choice?
