Call of Duty: Warzone has certainly died down slightly in terms of popularity with the community. While the battle royale has still been successful over the past year, Call of Duty has grown somewhat stagnant since Vanguard was released in late 2021. Vanguard is the lowest-performing main series title ever, and that has affected Warzone in different ways, mainly in terms of player count.

However, it appears that Raven Software and Activision are aiming to fix that ahead of the upcoming Modern Warfare II. According to a reliable leaker, a ranked mode is currently planned to release in Warzone over the course of the next two months.

A ranked mode for Warzone is one of the biggest fan requests and has been since the battle royale was released in 2020. Despite featuring some competitive playlists, Warzone has never received a proper mode dedicated to competitive play. Vanguard, on the other hand, saw the release of a ranked mode earlier this year, and it’s gone over generally well with the community. Now, it seems Activision wants to replicate that success in Warzone.

Warzone ranked mode reportedly coming soon

The insider to break this information is @TheGhostOfHope, a reliable leaker in the Call of Duty community. Hope claimed Activision is planning to release a ranked mode prior to MWII’s release in late October. They go on to say that this ranked mode will serve as a beta of sorts. Supposedly, the developers are releasing this mode in hopes of refining it for Warzone 2.0, which is arriving shortly after Modern Warfare II launches.

More specific details from Hope include the ranked mode will only take place on Caldera. Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island will apparently not be included. The leaker didn’t provide any further details about the mode. As of right now, we’re unsure how long this ranked mode could stick around and how the actual player rankings will be formatted.

If Activision decides to copy the ranking system from Vanguard, then players will earn points for performing well or winning matches. After a series of placement matches, players would be put into a skill division that reflects their current skill level. Players can move up in divisions the better they play and possibly move down divisions if they play worse.

While fans should take this information with a pinch of salt, TheGhostOfHope said they are “very very confident” in their report.
