Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is bringing back some classic content in the Season 3 Battle Pass. World War II weapons are back on the battlefield and a map from 2012 is one of the highlights of the season. While the map isn’t out just yet, the weapons are a topic for the here and now.
In Season 3, there are three weapons that have made their way into multiplayer, zombies and Warzone. In no order, they are the PPSh-41, Swiss K31 and Ballistic Knife. The last of those three is also coming mid-season, but the two main weapons are what most players are interested in currently.
There’s two ways to unlock these new guns via the Battle Pass, either grinding out levels or paying up.
Unlocking the PPSH-41 and Swiss K31 in Black Ops Cold War
As with every season so far in Black Ops Cold War, the only way to unlock new weapons is through the season’s Battle Pass. The Season 3 Battle Pass features 100 tiers with a paid and free version, like all of its predecessors.
The paid version unlocks every single tier in the pass, while the free version only unlocks a small amount of content. However, that content contains the new weapons, which are the PPSh-41 and Swiss K31 this time out. The former is unlocked at tier 15 of the pass, while the latter is unlocked at tier 31.
The PPSh-41 is a fan-favorite submachine gun, returning from the World War II era Call of Duty games. Its most recent appearance came in Call of Duty: WWII, where it dominated the SMG class.
On the flip side, the Swiss K31 is a compact bolt-action sniper rifle that resembles other Call of Duty weapons, like the Kar98k. Featuring a short barrel and decent mobility, this sniper should be enjoyable to use for more aggressive playstyles.
