Potter moves to coach and Boostio to stand in for Evil Geniuses

Evil Geniuses make further roster changes ahead of the second year of VCT.

Evil Geniuses have announced that Christine “potter” Chi will move to a coaching role for their VALORANT team while Keldon “Boostio” Pupello will stand in for the Nerd Street Gamers Summer Championship tournament. Potter was the starting in-game leader for the VALORANT team since its inception back in January of 2021. The team’s Head Coach, Jimmy “LiN” Lin, will move to an assistant coach role.

The organization also said the coaching staff will still trial players and different roster compositions in the the lead up to the VALORANT Championship Tour’s second year.

Evil Geniuses came into the North America VCT originally under than name Diabolical Masterminds before revealing their org signed status a few days before the first Stage 1 Challengers tournament. The squad was originally hand-picked by potter and hosted some rising stars from the Tier 2 VALORANT scene in Nolan “Temperature” Pepper, Ronan “Osias” Jeremiah Javelona, Aleksandar “aleksandar” Hinojosa and Claudia “Clawdia” Che. The only player remaining from the original roster is Temperature.

As a team in the North American VCT circuit, Evil Geniuses never made it to the main of event of Challengers tournament. Their highest finish outside of VCT events are two top fours in the Nerd Street Gamers Summer Championship series, one from an open tournament and the other in the June monthly.

Ahead of Stage 3, the team made big changes to their roster, parting ways with Osias, aleksander and Clawdia and bringing in Daniel “roca” Gustaferri, Brandon “BRANTED” Ballard and Mike “pho” Panza. Aleksander moved onto Andbox and regular VCT competition, Clawdia is a starter on CLG Red and Osias is on an amateur squad.

These changes, so far, resulted in a Round of 32 exit courtesy of Complexity.

The new Evil Geniuses roster will compete in the Nerd Street Gamers Summer Championship against Pioneers Friday.
