Pokémon GO January Community Day 2021

Featured Pokémon

Machop is the featured Pokémon, meaning it will spawn frequently and have an increased chance of being shiny. In addition to this, if you evolve Machop on Community Day to Machamp, it will learn the Dark-type move Payback. This is the only way you will be able to get a Machamp with this exclusive move.

Bonuses

January Community Day will feature two bonuses. Incense will last for three hours instead of one and catching Pokémon will grant three times as much Stardust. This is a great time to get out and catch Pokémon to get Stardust if you need to power your creatures up.

Date & time

This Community Day will take place on Saturday, January 16. While there is no time specified, all recent Community Days have gone from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time. There is no reason to suspect that this time will be any different.

How good is Machamp?

Machamp is a pretty solid Fighting-type attacker in Pokémon GO. It’s a good option in raids against Normal, Steel, Rock, and Ice-type Pokémon. It also functions decently in GO Battle League in the Great League and Ultra League. Payback might help it out when it comes to PVP, as it will give it a powerful Dark-type move which will be great against Ghost-type threats like Giratina.

While Machop isn’t new or rare, this will give players who haven’t already gotten Machamp or a shiny version a chance to. The new exclusive move, as well as the bonuses, are always enticing as well, so be sure not to miss out on January Community Day!
