Overwatch League Token drops are returning

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

One of the best incentives to watch the Overwatch League is finally coming back. Starting with the league’s Regional Tournaments this weekend, viewers can earn Overwatch League Tokens from watching live matches on the official website on either desktop or mobile.

How to get Overwatch League Tokens

The first thing you must do is log in with your Blizzard Account on the league’s official website. You can’t earn tokens if you don’t log in. Once you’ve completed this, you simply have to watch matches.

To earn the tokens, you will need to watch at least an hour of live Overwatch League content. Each hour will award five tokens. View time can occur in segments, so if you watch half an hour earlier in the day and another half an hour later, it will still count as an hour.

How to redeem the tokens

These tokens can be redeemed for in-game cosmetic content. Special team skins are available in the shop for 100 tokens, and other special content (such as GOAT Brigitte and the All-Star skins) will go on sale for promotions.

To find the shop, open Overwatch and click the “Overwatch League” tab on the main menu. From here, you can click a team in the “Team Shop” section and view all the different skins for that team. Each team has a skin for every Hero. Clicking the “Overwatch League” option in this section will bring up special items.

Overwatch League Token drops were available when the league was on Twitch, but ever since moving to YouTube, viewers haven’t had a way to earn these without buying them. The return of the tokens should help increase viewership, perhaps even more than the Philadelphia Fusion playing Philip “ChipSa” Graham. It could certainly use the boost in viewers during this rough 2020 season.
