The launch welcomes another key player and acquisition to the organization — Ken Silva, the founder of MediaXP. Founded in 2015, MediaXP prides itself as a brand solutions company that puts emphasis on authenticity.

Silva not only brings 10 years of experience in the gaming and esports industry, but also his expertise in launching programs and projects for publishers. He has experience as the director of ESL America, the commissioner for the North American Star League, an events specialist for Red Bull Media House, as well as the director of gaming and esports for Red Bull Canada.

OverActive ambitions

“This is yet another step forward in our effort to build a world-leading, global esports platform that will redefine the future of sports and entertainment,” said Chris Overholt, the president and CEO of OverActive Media. Overholt added how the launch of OAM LIVE would help with business growth in the form of future partnerships and brands.

Currently, OverActive Media owns eight teams around the world, which includes the Overwatch League’s Toronto Defiant. They also have a recently announced but yet-to-be-revealed franchise in the new Call of Duty league.

The acquisition of MediaXP and the addition of Silva to the OverActive Media team arrives on the same day as the organization’s Esports: The Modern Cultural Revolution event. The event will be happening today in downtown Toronto. Over 200 invited guests will hear from key players within the esports industry.

In addition to Chris Overholt himself, this event will host speakers such as Overwatch League commissioner Nate Nanzer and Call of Duty World League head Johanna Faries Head. Panelists will include Toronto Defiant head coach Bishop, Splyce Call of Duty player Loony, Splyce co-founder Marty Strenczewilk, and Overwatch streamer KarQ.
