Former OpTic Gaming roster

The former OpTic Gaming Gears of War roster requested to be released after almost three years with their prior organization. The teamā€™s departure came almost a month after Immortals Gaming Club announced they had acquired Infinite Esports and Entertainment. OpTic Gaming is a subsidiary of the Infinite holding company.

Immortals Gaming Club acquired Infinite Esports & Entertainment mainly for OpTic Gamingā€™s League of Legends Championship Series slot. However, it didnā€™t seem like some of the esports organizationā€™s other teams would also be supported. Coach Nick ā€œAshesā€ Ridgeway posted to social media on behalf of the roster, looking for another organization to represent. It was revealed the roster would temporarily join TOX Gaming for the ELEAGUE Invitational in July. However, it looks like the teamā€™s permanent home for the future will be NRG.

The roster currently consists of Gilbert ā€œXplosiveā€ Rojo, Alex ā€œSuMuNsā€ Ascencion, Brian ā€œSoLuRsā€ Valenzuela, Arody ā€œPraizedā€ Dipre, and Billy ā€œMentaLā€ Putnam Jr. Nick ā€œAshesā€ Ridgeway will stay on as coach for the NRG roster. While with OpTic Gaming, the team won 1st place finishes at 2018ā€™s Gears Pro Circuit Mexico City and New Orleans Open. They also went on to take 1st at 2019ā€™s Gears Pro Circuit Mexico City and Boston Open.

Gears of War 5 releases on Sept 10 worldwide on Xbox One and Windows 10. The full details for the Gears 5 esports season will be announced on Sept 13, and official play will start on Sept 22. How will the newly signed NRG Gears of War team perform with the new season? Let us know in the comments.
