Today, Nintendo revealed many new Super Mario titles in a Direct celebrating the series’ 35th anniversary. The list of new reveals included Super Mario Bros. 35, a competitive online multiplayer game. This game will become available for a limited time beginning on October 1.
Super Mario Bros. 35 takes the last-man-standing formula of battle royales and mixes it with the classic Mario platformer gameplay. In this way, it’s similar to Tetris 99, which also combines old-school gameplay and elements of the battle royale genre. To win in this Super Mario game, the player must survive the longest out of 35 participants.
Notably, enemies that the player defeats will be sent to another player’s screen. As a result, players must keep their eyes open for new enemies that may pop up seemingly out of nowhere. Competitors can gain power-ups in this game via the new Item Roulette. In addition, they can choose to employ one of four strategies: Lowest Time, Most Coins, Attackers, and Random.
Super Mario Bros. 35 will be exclusively available as a digital download for Nintendo Switch Online members. Notably, the game will cease to be playable on March 31, 2021. So players should take full advantage of the six-month window during which they can compete in this Mario battle game.

In addition, a Splatoon 2 Splatfest in January will have players choose between the Super Mushroom and the Super Star.
Super Mario Bros. 35 was just one of many exciting games revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct. Others include Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, and more.
