Among the many leaks that have come out for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, one has been particularly confusing for fans. According to insider @TheGhostOfHope, there will be a change in how the perk system works in MW2 multiplayer. The leaker has said in the past that players will pick four total perks, with two of those coming from the first slot. These two perks will determine the player’s playstyle, whether that be aggressive, passive, objective-based, etc. While we still don’t have confirmation on this system, it was seemingly teased in a recent trailer for MW2.
The trailer was only around five seconds long and mainly promoted Call of Duty Next, the upcoming event where the future of COD will be on full display. However, during these five seconds, several pieces of information can be gathered. At one point, there are five perks on the screen, most of which appeared in Modern Warfare 2019. However, two of these perks were set aside from the other three and look to be connected in some fashion. TheGhostOfHope claims that this is in reference to the new perk system they leaked a while back.
I do think that in the 5 days countdown video @CallofDuty released earlier today they are actually indeed describing the 'choosing 2 perks in first column and it's treated as your playstyle' perk system that I leaked way back in March of this year. https://t.co/jtfaVkcB1Z pic.twitter.com/SXlfs9xvKq

The two perks in question look to be Double Time and Sleight of Hand; the two perks are connected via a line under the logo for something else. TheGhostOfHope believes this logo is for the Search and Destroy game mode.
Supposedly, this is how the new perk system will work. Players are able to pick two perks from the first perk slot to determine how they will play a certain match. In this case, it appears that Search and Destroy is the game mode for the match. However, we’re not sure if players will be able to pick certain perks for specific game modes or if the diagram in the trailer is simply an example of how the system can work.
We’ll likely hear more information about this supposed new perk system during Call of Duty Next on Sept. 15.
