100 Thieves founder and CEO Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag has announced the organization will be entering CS:GOÂ for the second time. The North American esports organization had previously signed a Brazilian CS:GO roster in late 2017 and early 2018.
Series B funding
Nadeshot published a video about 100 Thieves’ $35 million Series B funding round on his personal channel. During that video, it shows clips beginning from the press release to other events after the initial announcement. In one scene, the organization discusses possible future games or franchises to enter into with the new investment. Names of games like Rocket League and CS:GO are thrown around before Nadeshot confirms a future CS:GO team.
No further information was given about whether the esports organization was looking into acquiring a full roster or individual players to piece one together. With Immortals Gaming Club taking over OpTic Gaming, this seems like a great opportunity. 100 Thieves has also hired a few employees who left Infinite Esports after the buyout. In other recent news, Astralis has also reportedly separated from RFRSH Entertainment. RFRSH is the company that operates the BLAST Pro Series.
100 Thieves in CS:GO
However, these two teams are not based in the US. During 100 Thieves’ original facility announcement video, they mentioned plans on housing all of their competitive teams under one roof. The CS:GO team will also not likely come into play until several months in the future. Looking back at 100 Thieves’ last venture into the space, proper planning will be required.
After 100 Thieves acquired part of the Immortals roster, the roster quickly ran into problems. Things like visa issues and kNgV making inappropriate comments led the organization to drop the entire team. This was before the team had even played at Boston’s ELEAGUE Major.
