MrDeadMoth re-banned from Twitch following community backlash

There is strength in the Twitch and online community after all, it would seem. We previously reported that MrDeadMoth, a Fortnite Twitch streamer who was charged with common assault of his pregnant wife, returned to Twitch just a month after the incident. However, Twitch has now banned him again. As someone who did see the video and was quite shocked by his return, I am pleased to see a good result happen. The year 2019 is already off to a good start now.

Community comes together and prevails

Users all across the internet expressed their outrage and shock to see MrDeadMoth, aka Luke Munday, back on the popular streaming site. He was seen streaming as recently as the end of December. It wasn’t exactly the news readers and people who witnessed the assault live wanted to find out. I really have to give credit where it’s due, and that is to the community for speaking out and putting the ball right in Twitch’s court. One very popular member of FaZe Clan actually spoke out against this on Twitter.

When Munday returned to Twitch, he got a raise in his viewership, which earned him and Twitch’s income revenue. MrDeadMoth had over 7,000 viewers and affiliation. They were both profiting off the awful incident. Twitch seems to however now want to make things better. I get it that money talks, but this man committed a crime basically live for the world to see. Whether this ban is for good or not remains to be seen. Twitch spoke to Kotaku and gave the following statement:

Protecting the integrity of our community is incredibly important to us … We want everyone on Twitch to have a safe and positive experience and work constantly toward that goal. Part of that work includes examining our policies and practices when we find they don’t properly address specific incidents to ensure we’re adapting as the Twitch community grows.

I am glad to see Twitch finally spoke up about what’s going on. Hopefully, MrDeadMoth stays offline for good.
