Modern Warfare teases Ghost of Verdansk as a playable Operator

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently in the midst of its last content drop for Season One. Freshly released update 1.13 introduced content like the Crossbow, extra loadout slots, and a flurry of bug fixes. However, there were also some bugs caused by the update, as per usual. Although, one thing that’s unusual is the scenery around some of the maps following the update. Many players noticed that an extremely recognizable face can be seen throughout the game. Ghost of Verdansk, as seen in every Infinity Ward title, is plastered on various maps, signaling his pending introduction as an Operator.

Ghost makes his return to Modern Warfare

Simon “Ghost” Riley is one of the most beloved characters in Call of Duty history. He’s been in every campaign Infinity Ward has developed, with the exception of this year. Also, we’ve seen him make an appearance in multiplayer in the past as well as COD Mobile.

So, it’s safe to say the community is well-aware of who Ghost is. Though, in case you forgot or were unaware, here he is featured in Modern Warfare. Credit to Reddit user Mrnamesarehard and YouTuber Prestige Is Key.

Clearly, Infinity Ward is attempting to send a message to players. While it could be a plethora of things, the most logical deduction is that Ghost will be coming to Modern Warfare as a playable Operator. In Season One, we saw Mara from the campaign make an appearance, so this wouldn’t be unprecedented.

Rumors have been circulating since the game’s release that Ghost would be introduced. However, we didn’t know when or how Infinity Ward would do it. Now we have somewhat of an idea. Ghost will most likely come to the Item Shop or Battle Pass with the introduction of Season Two, which takes place on Feb. 11. There’s simply not enough time left in Season One for him to appear.
