Modern Warfare Season 1 will be receiving more weapon variants

In the Call of Duty community, the words “weapon variants” are only spoken of in a negative light. Since Advanced Warfare, weapon variants have been the bane of any Call of Duty title. Overall, fans don’t enjoy stat-changing weapons that have a severe effect on gameplay. While some variants could be unlocked freely, a majority of players don’t enjoy the mechanic. However, in Modern Warfare, weapon variants don’t carry the same negative connotation as in years past. With this title, weapon variants simply change the look of a gun and not the stats. In Modern Warfare Season 1, coming on Dec. 3, players should expect even more weapon variants to make their way in.

Season 1 Battle Pass will contain weapon variants

Unlike in previous titles, weapon variants are easily obtainable in Modern Warfare. You will only have to purchase the Premium Battle Pass for $10 to unlock some weapon variants. Although, so far in Modern Warfare, weapon variants have also been earnable through in-game challenges.

With Season 1, the same system will be in place. New challenges will appear and offer even more weapon variants. Although, starting Dec. 3, there will be more ways to earn a variant besides challenges.

Yesterday, we saw YouTubers upload footage of the new Ground War map Port. Included in the footage are little blips of some weapon variants arriving with Season 1. We already know of the “Corruptor” variant for the RAM-7, which is unlocked at tier 98 of the Battle Pass.

In addition to the Corruptor, we also know of the “Gilded” variant for the Holger-26. This variant turns the Holger-26 into the G36C from Modern Warfare 2. However, thanks to YouTuber TheKoreanSavage, we can also see one additional unknown weapon variant.

As we can see in the image, the “Admiral’s Pride” is another new weapon variant. It looks to be a version of the MP5 submachine gun with a large scope on it. It’s unknown if this variant will be unlocked through challenges or the Battle Pass.

Players will be able to earn the base versions of the new RAM-7 and Holger-26 weapons for free. However, to unlock the special variants, you will have to buy the Premium Battle Pass.
