A new patch is now live across all systems for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Although, it isn’t update version 1.09 like most fans were expecting. Instead, this is simply a hot fix for bugs in the game and weapon balancing, including to the 725 shotgun. Update 1.09 is said to go live later this week according to Infinity Ward’s community manager, Ashton Williams. For now, though, let’s see what changed with today’s hot fix for Modern Warfare.
Stability fixes and weapon balancing changes
Infinity Ward has patched the nagging issue in Ground War where the game kept making you choose your loadout after death. In addition to the general fixes, some of the challenges were also debugged. Presumably, this will fix any issues that certain challenges had with tracking the progress of a particular task. Some Officer challenges are also included in these changes.
As for the weapon balancing, it seems Infinity Ward will try once again to put a nail in the 725 shotgun’s coffin. For the past few updates, the 725 has received nerf after nerf but to no avail. Although, this time around it looks like Infinity Ward got it right:
725
-
Small reduction to base weapon damage range
-
Significantly reduced the damage range added by attachments
-
Small hips spread increase
-
Reduced effective damage at the hip
Damage and range have been reduced across the board, and the hip fire of the shotgun has been increased. Early reports coming in state that the 725 is indeed significantly worse than it was previously.
One other major weapon balancing change comes to the AUG submachine gun. While it was fairly powerful before this patch, now it could rival the MP5 and MP7 for the top spot in the SMG category.
AUG
-
Increasing close-range damage
-
Increasing mid-damage range and reduced chest multiplier
