This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

The time that all Call of Duty fans have been waiting for is nearly upon us. Now an annual tradition, the beta for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare begins in just three short days. The beta will run from Sept. 12 to Sept. 23 but will vary depending on your system of choice and preorder status.

Earlier today, Call of Duty released a new trailer with information regarding the beta. While most of it was already known through leaks, confirmation from the source never hurts. However, there are some things Activision failed to disclose that an inside source leaked just yesterday.

Official trailer released for Modern Warfare beta

In the newest trailer, Call of Duty showcases some of the weapons, maps, and killstreaks that will be included in the beta. Though most of the details looked familiar from past gameplay, there were a few new tidbits like the PP-19 Bizon submachine gun.

After the trailer released, Activision made a post outlining everything that will take place during the time of the beta. A majority of it was previously known information, like the start date for each system and preorder users.

Activision also says in the blog that pre-loading for both digital and retail preorders will take place on Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. PST. Digital preorders can be downloaded straight from the PS or Xbox Store, and retail copies can be redeemed online.

However, at Daily Esports, we preordered a retail copy and were able to start downloading the beta on Sept. 9. We simply redeemed our code at CallofDuty.com/redeem and were given another code to redeem on the PS Store. This allowed us to download the 42 GB file on PlayStation.

Leaks surface about the content for the beta

As always, Activision doesn’t tell us everything that we want to know. While we have a start and end date, we still don’t know what exactly will be featured in the Modern Warfare beta. Although, leaker TheGamingRevolution, who has been correctly leaking every aspect of Modern Warfare, last night revealed tons of information about the beta, including things that Activision themselves released today.

He also claims there will be nine maps, four of which are Gunfight maps we saw from the alpha. There will also be standard 6v6 and 2v2 maps, as well as 10v10 and 32v32.

TGR did not give us any intel about the weapons or killstreaks in the beta but did let us know there will be select Double Weapon XP days. This will give players more of an opportunity to experiment with the all-new Gunsmith in Create-A-Class.
