Legends of Runeterra’s new expansion, Worldwalker, will introduce four new champions, new keywords, over 65 collectable cards and the anticipated Path of Champions 2.0 on Wednesday. The champions also include the first Runeterran champions in the game.
New champions in Legends of Runeterra: WorldWalker
The four new champions in the upcoming Legends of Runeterra expansion are Jhin, Annie, Bard and Illaoi. Both Jhin and Bard are the two Runeterran champions Riot has introduced to the game. Runeterrran champions are champions that do not belong to any region. When you add a Runeterran champion to your deck, it acts as one of your regions and every Runterran champion comes with a unique deckbuilding rule or origin. This rule defines which cards players can use alongside the champion, leading to several deckbuilding options.
Jhin allows players to add any card with skills into the deck. Jhin’s origin effect is The Virtuoso, and for every 3 fast spells, slow spells and skills you use while you behold Jhin, play Lotus Trap. Lotus Trap is a skill that deals 1 damage to enemy Nexus and Jhin helps to stun the weakest opponent. While there are several options to pair Jhin with based on lore, LoR senior game designer Jonathan Moorman confirmed the champion synergizes very well with Annie.
Furthermore, Bard and his musical allies plant piles of Chimes in your deck to grant a huge stat boon to your cards. Boon is a new keyword in LoR, and they are unique effects that add another card to your deck and activate when drawn.
Meanwhile, Illaoi summons and powers up devastating tentacles to take down the enemy Nexus.
Path of Champions 2.0
Path of Champions is a popular PvE mode that was introduced last year in Legends of Runeterra. Now, Worldwalker will introduce a massively expanded relaunch of the mode. The Path of Champions 2.0 comes with several additions, including new regions: Noxus and Demacia. Moreover, it will also include a new permanent progression systems, unique champion adventures and world adventures to test your power and skills.
Additionally, Riot will introduce a Pulsefire Event in Patch 3.8.0 that will reward players with high-tech new emotes, guardians, card backs, and an exclusive Pulsefire Akshan skin.
Champions with Pulsefire card backs and skins include Caitlyn, Aphelios, Akshan, Lucian and Thresh. There will also be a Pulsefire collection board with the five champions also having Pulsefire spell designs in-game.
