LA Guerrillas bench Gunless and Asim for Neptune and Spart

The Guerrillas are shaking their roster up

The LA Guerrillas announced a series of roster moves today; benching two players, promoting one, and signing an additional player. It’s not often a team wins a major event and then proceeds to make several roster moves right after the next qualifying round, but that’s exactly where the Guerrillas have found themselves as they look to recapture the magic that brought them the Major II victory.

Announced earlier today, LA has re-promoted Kris “Spart” Cervantez to the starting lineup in place of Pierce “Gunless” Hillman. This is the second time that Spart has been promoted to Gunless’ spot; the first time around, it was Gunless’ injury that allowed Spart to enter the spotlight. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise for LAG, as Spart’s talent vaulted the team to a miracle run at Major II that ended with Spart winning MVP. LA then decided to revert their decision during the Major III qualifiers and bench Spart for Gunless now that he was fully healthy. Once again, though, the Guerillas are swapping Gunless out for Spart before Major IV kicks off.

LAG signed another player today as well, bringing aboard former NYSL player Travis “Neptune” McCloud. To make room for Neptune, LA has benched Obaid “Asim” Asim. Neptune’s tenure with NYSL earlier this season was rocky at best, as he was benched twice and then released by the team after they themselves made a flurry of roster moves. Neptune now looks to restart his season with a change of scenery. As for Asim, this is his first time off the starting roster in 2022. His stats following Major II were poor, and he often looked to be weighing the rest of LAG down.

The LA Guerrillas head into Major IV with a matchup against NYSL on the docket. This should be an interesting one, as Neptune now looks to get revenge on the team that dropped him. The full roster for LAG is Spart, Neptune, Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat, and Cuyler “Huke” Garland.

The Major IV qualifiers begin on June 24. This is the last event before CDL Champs takes place, so teams will be fighting extra hard to make the bracket and seed themselves as high as possible.
