The first day of the 2020 Call of Duty League ended in some controversy as the Minnesota Rokkr defeated the L.A. Guerrillas. The final score of the series was 3-1, but some argue that one of the Rokkr’s wins should be voided. In map 2, Search and Destroy on Piccadilly, the Guerrillas were forfeited by the CDL for using an illegal perk. This perk was Hardline, which allows you to earn killstreaks with one less kill.
Hardline is in fact banned, but killstreaks are not used in the CDL, per a gentleman’s agreement. However, thanks to an in-game bug in Modern Warfare, one of the L.A. players used Hardline by mistake.
L.A. Guerrillas stance on the matter
Obviously, L.A. was not happy with the ruling of a forfeit by the CDL officials. The Guerrillas felt the in-game bug that requires players to use Hardline was not their fault. Additionally, since Hardline is virtually useless without killstreaks, the use of it had no real bearing on the match’s outcome.
Patrick “Aches” Price had some strong words regarding the ruling.
He didn’t even have specialist on. So the perk he accidentally had on due to IW fucking up CDL rules and us having to do some workaround that caused him to have hardline on didnt even effect anything.

The player in question is Andres “Lacefield” Lacefield. During the Search and Destroy, L.A. was winning handily after securing a victory in map 1. Although, once the officials saw Lacefield had Hardline on, they forfeited the map in favor of the Rokkr.
As aforementioned, Hardline had no bearing on the match since Lacefield was running no streaks. Though, Hardline is still technically banned, so the CDL had reason to stop the match. The Guerrillas made their feelings known through a Twitter post.

To prevent this in the future, players should ensure they have the right class before the match starts. However, the CDL is also at fault, since the officials are supposed to check the players’ classes before every game. Regardless, the Rokkr technically took the series and secured their first win of the season in front of the home crowd.
