The in-game leader gets benched

After being a part of FaZe for almost two years, the experienced player has been benched. The move on behalf of FaZe is not by any measure unexpected by many. There have already been rumors of karrigan leaving the FaZe organization before. The rumors intensified especially after Nikola “NiKo” Kovač took the reins of being the in-game leader (IGL) away from karrigan in the middle of the last major in London. This made matters worse after FaZe actually started getting significantly better results following the change of their IGL.

The fact that karrigan has directly announced any interested organizations to contact FaZe Clan shows his willingness to leave the team right away. However, where karrigan will go remains a mystery as of now.

One for the future of FaZe Clan

It has been a mediocre year for FaZe. Despite finding success three times this year at EPICENTER 2018, Intel Extreme Masters Sydney and ESL One: Belo Horizonte, fans expect much more out of a team of this caliber. Indeed, every team has been overshadowed by the pure dominance of Astralis. Nevertheless, FaZe looked more than incapable of handling their business on numerous occasions, one being the recent major in London. The American team underperformed by going 0-2 before climbing back up all the way to a 3-2 score to be one of the last teams that would move onto the playoffs. Next, FaZe would get knocked out by the Danish superteam, Astralis, with a 2-0 score. A very disappointing performance by FaZe.

However, with karrigan now on the bench, this opens new opportunities for the team. Perhaps bringing a younger and adept rifler or in-game leader is just what FaZe needs to get back to their winning ways.
