Japan becomes HGC minor region; joins Horizon Clash

Japan enters Heroes of the Storm as its latest minor region, with its recently announced inclusion to the next Horizon Clash.

Japan, despite its lack of language localization, stands out for its high-spirited community and local tournaments. It now joins Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau in the Southeast Asia (SEA) region. Japanese teams can register for the Clash starting now until July 25, with qualifiers starting July 28.

Interestingly, Lead Hero Designer, Matt Villers, replied to a post on Reddit concerning Japan’s inclusion. Villers often publicly posts in Japanese on Twitter and frequently responds directly to the Japanese Heroes community. So, his positive support for this announcement shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.

However, some might say Villers possibly showed undue bias in his strong support for the Japanese community. Villers might have realized this as well, as he later deleted this post.
