Trif notably threw his support towards iBDW after making it into Smash Summit 8. iBDW also received support from Melee personalities like Rishi “Rishi” Malhotra and Adam “Armada” Lindgren. Supporters of iBDW dropped a huge bomb of votes in order to get him into Summit at the last minute. In fact, Avery “Ginger” Wilson held the lead over iBDW by more than 10,000 votes until the very last moment.

Smash Summit 8 is a Melee invitational taking place in Los Angeles, California on June 13 – 16. With iBDW now in Smash Summit, there are four spots left in the 16-man bracket. Two of those spots will be given to vote-ins on May 28. Players have a chance to earn one of the last two spots at Smash’N’Splash 5 or The Kid, The Goat, and The Mang0.

Weston “Westballz” Dennis and Zaid “Spark” Ali were eliminated from the voting process on May 27. Westballz notably campaigned alongside Edgard “n0ne” Sheleby, who is still in the running. Four players now compete for the last two vote-in spots: Ginger, n0ne, Joey “Lucky” Aldama, and Diego “Cool Lime” Wheat.

The final day of voting is May 28. Two more players will have the chance to join iBDW at Smash Summit 8. Joseph “Mang0” Marquez and Alex “Alex19” Ruvalcaba will commentate the final vote-ins.

Meet the player

iBDW, Smash Summit’s newest invitee, is a Fox main from New York. He made his Top 100 debut in 2017, when he was ranked No. 84 in the world. iBDW rocketed up to No. 34 in the world on the MPGR 2018, with Top 16 placings at nationals like CEO 2018 and Super Smash Con 2018.

iBDW has yet to have a big major breakout in 2019. He had a strong 9th place finish at Full Bloom 5. However, his 25th place finish at GENESIS 6 and his 17th place finish at Pound 2019 were not as stellar.

Even without a major Top 8 appearance, iBDW has some of the best wins of anyone in the world this year because of his strong regional performances. These include victories over Zachary “SFAT” Cordoni, James “Swedish Delight” Liu, Armand “ARMY” Del Duca, and Shephard “Fiction” Lima. As a result, Smash Summit 8 will give iBDW the chance to cement his good results and climb up the rankings even further.
