The Call of Duty: Vanguard season for the Call of Duty League is getting ready to kick off in in early February, but the league is first hosting the CDL Kickoff Classic for all 12 teams. This event is unofficial in terms of overall standings or points within the CDL, but it comes with a $30,000 grand prize for the winning team.
The CDL Kickoff Classic takes place in Texas at the Esports Stadium Arlington. This event isn’t hosted by one particular team but there will be fans in attendance for the three-day tournament. As it’s the first event of the 2022 season, some fans might need a refresher on where they can watch the tournament from home.
The event begins at 4 p.m. ET on Jan. 21, with four matches taking place on Friday and Saturday. Then, on Sunday, the semifinals and grand finals will take place.
Watching the CDL Kickoff Classic
This is considered the one and only preseason tournament for the 2022 CDL season. Beginning on Jan. 21, every team in the league will travel to Arlington to fight it out in a single-elimination bracket. The top four teams at the Call of Duty League Championship in 2021 received byes for the bracket, while the other eight teams play in the first round. The official bracket was revealed on Monday by the CDL, detailing all of the Round 1 and possible Round 2 matchups.
To watch the CDL Kickoff Classic, fans can tune into the Call of Duty League YouTube channel. As was the case during the last two years, Activision will have an exclusive streaming with YouTube. Other streaming platforms, such as Twitch, will not be officially broadcasting the event.
All of the matches should begin at the same time each day but online broadcasts can shift, especially when players are on LAN.
