Season 2 of Call of Duty MW3 and Warzone introduces the first post-launch melee weapon for either game, the Soulrender. The Soulrender joins the Karambit and the Gutter Knife as the only melee weapons you can equip through the gunsmith.
Described as a “ceremonial blade capable of razor-sharp cuts and deadly melee action in close-quarters combat,” the Soulrender matches the zombie theme of Season 2 perfectly. You can also use an aim-and-slice strategy with the Soulrender, allowing you to precisely time when you attack an enemy.

Unlocking the Soulrender in MW3 and Warzone
Unfortunately for fans of melee combat in COD, the Soulrender won’t be available at the start of Season 2. Instead, you’ll have to wait for it to arrive sometime during the season.
On the Season 2 roadmap, the Soulrender is marked as coming “In-Season,” which likely means it won’t be released until the mid-season reloaded update. As of right now, we’re unsure of when the Season 2 Reloaded update could launch, but the reloaded updates are usually planned for the halfway point between seasons. This timeline puts Season 2 Reloaded at around early-mid March, but things could easily change between now and then.
Whenever the Soulrender does come to MW3 and Warzone, the most likely way it will be unlocked is through an in-game event. It won’t arrive via a Weekly Challenge, as that’s how the SDA Subverter is unlocked. In the Season 2 blog, Activision redacts the unlock method for the Soulrender, which is usually an indication that something will be unlocked through an unannounced event.
I’ll be sure to update this guide with more information on the Soulrender as details become available throughout Season 2. In the meantime, check out my guides on unlocking the BP50 and the RAM-9 in MW3 and Warzone.
