How to unlock the Mastery Charms in MW3

An entirely other grind

While a majority of the Call of Duty community is focused on the Mastery Camos in MW3, some of you might have shifted your attention to the specific Charms you can earn after unlocking the Mastery Camos.

Just like in this year’s MW2, you are able to earn Mastery Charms for your weapons once you have completed the Mastery Camo grind. However, in MW3, this grind has expanded from just multiplayer to Zombies as well.

In addition to that, you can also earn Mastery Charms for the MW2 weapons in Zombies. In total, there are nearly 150 new Mastery Charms to earn in MW3.

Before you can even think about equipping the Mastery Charms on your weapons, you need to first unlock the final Mastery Camo. In multiplayer, you need to unlock the Interstellar camo on every MW3 weapon. For Zombies, you need to unlock the Borealis camo on every MW3 weapon and the Bioluminescent camo on every MW2 weapon.

Once those herculean tasks are complete, you are eligible to unlock the Mastery Charms. You can see the exact process to unlock the Mastery Charms below:

Multiplayer (MW3 Weapons)

  • Gilded Emblem and Calling Card: Unlock Gilded Camo, get 100 Operator Kills while using the Gilded Camo.
  • Forged Emblem and Calling Card: Complete Gilded Mastery, Unlock Forged Camo, get 200 Operator Kills while using the Forged Camo.
  • Priceless Emblem and Calling Card: Complete Forged Mastery, Unlock Priceless Camo, get 300 Operator Kills while using the Priceless Camo.
  • Interstellar Emblem and Calling Card: Complete Priceless Mastery, Unlock Interstellar Camo, get 400 Operator Kills while using the Interstellar Camo.
  • Mastery Charm: Complete all Mastery Challenges.

Zombies (MW3 Weapons)

  • Golden Enigma Emblem and Calling Card: Unlock Golden Enigma Camo, get 300 Kills while using the Golden Enigma Camo in Zombies.
  • Zicron Scale Emblem and Calling Card: Complete Golden Enigma Mastery, Unlock Zicron Scale Camo, get 600 Kills while using the Zicron Scale Camo in Zombies.
  • Serpentinite Emblem and Calling Card: Complete Zicron Scale Mastery, Unlock Serpentinite Camo, get 900 Kills while using the Serpentinite Camo in Zombies.
  • Borealis Emblem and Calling Card: Complete Serpentinite Mastery, Unlock Borealis Camo, get 1,200 Kills while using the Borealis Camo in Zombies.
  • Mastery Charm: Complete all Mastery Challenges.

Zombies (MW2 Weapons)

  • Golden Ivory Emblem and Calling Card: Unlock Golden Ivory Camo, get 300 Kills while using the Golden Ivory Camo in Zombies.
  • Spinel Husk Emblem and Calling Card: Complete Golden Ivory Mastery, Unlock Spinel Husk Camo, get 600 Kills while using the Spinel Husk Camo in Zombies.
  • Arachnida Emblem and Calling Card: Complete Spinel Husk Mastery, Unlock Arachnida Camo, get 900 Kills while using the Arachnida Camo in Zombies.
  • Bioluminescent Emblem and Calling Card: Complete Arachnida Mastery, Unlock Bioluminescent Camo, get 1,200 Kills while using the Bioluminescent Camo in Zombies.
  • Mastery Charm: Complete all Mastery Challenges.

As you can see, you need to get a certain amount of kills using the various Mastery Camos on specific weapons. Doing this unlocks the Mastery Calling Cards and Emblems. As you progress through these rewards, you will eventually be able to unlock the Mastery Charm after unlocking every Calling Card and Emblem for a specific weapon.

It breaks down to getting 1,000 kills for every MW3 weapon in multiplayer and 3,000 kills for every MW2 and MW3 weapon in Zombies. Of course, you also need to ensure you’re using the correct Mastery Camos when going for these kills. There are 37 MW3 weapons in multiplayer and Zombies while you only need to use 32 MW2 weapons to unlock the final Mastery Camo, so you can do the math on how many kills you need to unlock all of the Mastery Charms.

If you manage to get the Mastery Charms for all 37 MW3 weapons in multiplayer and Zombies as well as the 32 weapons in MW2 Zombies, well… we don’t know if you receive anything as a reward. But that is probably the most impressive grind we have ever seen in a Call of Duty.
