The first piece of content for the Season 3 update in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 has been revealed, and it’s a fan-favorite weapon. The Intervention, now known as the FJX Imperium sniper rifle, is returning in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 when Season 3 launches on April 12. The Intervention was revealed by content creator FaZe Dirty, who is one of the best snipers in the Call of Duty community.

While players patiently wait to get their hands on the Intervention in Season 3, they can see how to unlock the new sniper rifle in MW2 and Warzone 2 in the guide below.

Unlocking the Intervention in MW2 and Warzone 2

While nothing has been officially confirmed by Activision as of yet, the Intervention will likely be a Battle Pass weapon in Season 3. This means that players will have to unlock different tiers of content to progress toward the tier that holds the Intervention. It’s unknown where the Intervention will be in the Battle Pass, so we can’t say for sure how long it will take players to unlock it.

Of course, players can always purchase Battle Pass Tier Tokens to bypass the unlock process entirely. Players can purchase enough tokens with COD Points to immediately unlock the Intervention along with a plethora of other content.

If the Intervention happens to not be a Battle Pass weapon, though, players will likely have to complete a challenge or a series of challenges to unlock it. Perhaps there will be another in-game event like Season 2’s Path of the Ronin where the end reward will be the Intervention.

At this point, we don’t know either way, so fans will have to wait for more official news from Activision. We should see a Season 3 roadmap for MW2 and Warzone 2 in the coming days which will explain all of the content further. In the meantime, you can read our early patch notes for Season 3 to bone up for the update.
