How to see how much time is left in MW3 Zombies

Don't let the Aether get you

The Zombies game mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 features plenty of new mechanics, but none are more polarizing than the time limit. Every match of Zombies in MW3 features a time limit, which can be jarring to grow accustomed to, especially if you’re a veteran player.

While you still have roughly an hour in every match before you’re forced to leave the map or Urzikstan, you need to keep track of your time remaining somehow. Luckily, there’s an easy way to see exactly how much time you have left in every match of Zombies. Below, you can see how to find your current time remaining.

Seeing your current time in MW3 Zombies

If you’re like me, you likely spent your first match of Zombies looking all over the screen to find the timer that tells you how much time you have left in your current match. It took me several minutes to eventually spot it, but once I did, it made things much easier while playing.

To see your current match timer in Zombies, look right underneath your mini-map in the top-left corner of the screen. There, you will see a white timer counting down, which is how much time you have left in your match.

Every match of Zombies starts out with a 45-minute timer. This is how much time you have before the Aether gas spreads around the map. Once the 45 minutes runs out, you have an additional 15 minutes to get to an Exfil Point. During these 15 minutes, the Aether gas spreads around the map until it finally reaches the Final Exfil Point, which is not determined until around the halfway mark of the 15 minutes.

If you don’t reach an Exfil Point in time, the Aether gas kills you and leaves all of your gear behind. You can avoid being killed by the Aether using a Gas Mask, but this only protects you for so long. The best way to avoid the Aether altogether is to ensure you exfil by the time it starts spreading. Of course, you can gamble and wait for the Final Exfil Point, giving you more time to kill zombies and complete missions, but you’re risking the Aether killing you.
