How to pick up a Mercenary Stronghold Keycard in MW3 Zombies

The Act One mission called “Interceptor” in Call of Duty MW3 Zombies requires you to eliminate a Mercenary Convoy and then pick up the Mercenary Stronghold Keycard that the enemies leave behind. While this sounds simple enough in theory, it has proven extremely difficult for many players.

The actual mission itself isn’t challenging, as all you need to do is find a Mercenary Convoy, eliminate all of them, and then pick up a keycard from the ground. It appears the Interceptor mission is bugged, though, as I can confirm that picking up the keycard doesn’t always complete the mission. Instead, the mission objective stays incomplete, forcing you to repeat the entire process over again.

In the guide below, I’ll go over how I was able to complete the Interceptor mission in MW3 Zombies and the trick to picking up the Mercenary Stronghold Keycard.

Picking up a Mercenary Stronghold Keycard in MW3 Zombies

First and foremost, you need to ensure you’re finding an actual Mercenary Convoy. This is marked on your map as three red vehicles passing by or parked in an area. If you find the three red vehicles on your map, start shooting at the enemy AI and eliminate all of them before attempting to loot any keycard.

With the Mercenary Convoy eliminated, you can start looking for the Mercenary Stronghold Keycard. More often than not, the keycard will be lying on the ground next to one of the many guns that the enemies drop when they die. The Mercenary Stronghold Keycard is a blue rarity item, so it should be pretty easy to locate.

When you find the keycard, make sure you have an open spot in your Rucksack. If you don’t and you have to replace an item to fit the keycard, the objective won’t count and the Interceptor mission won’t be marked as complete. With an open spot in your Rucksack, pick up and stow the Mercenary Stronghold Keycard.

It’s a 50/50 shot whether this works or not. For me, I repeated this process five different times before it finally counted and I was able to complete the Interceptor mission. The only way to ensure it might work is having an open spot in your Rucksack. Other than that, you have to hope that the zombie gods are on your side and picking up the Mercenary Stronghold Keycard counts for your mission objective.
