While the beta releases on Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET, these Twitch drops won’t be available until Wednesday. The beta is set to end on May 17.

OW2 dev team releases FAQ

This Twitch drop announcement came as part of an FAQ released by the Overwatch development team revealed. That FAQ also answered popular questions, like how fans would know if they got beta access. According to the Overwatch team, players will receive an email if they get access, telling them how to download and play it upon release.

Another popular question asked is if fans needed the original Overwatch game to access the Overwatch 2 beta. The answer to that question is yes β€” players do need a license for Overwatch 1 to test out Overwatch 2. Also, the beta is only on PC to start, but console players will get a chance to participate during future PvP betas for Overwatch 2.

The regions available in the beta include North America, Europe, Latin America/Brazil, Korea, Japan, Australia/New Zealand, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.

Fans get a second chance for beta access

Starting on Wednesday, specific Twitch streamers will have drops for Overwatch 2 beta access. Those drops will only be available for a limited time, only on that day from 1 p.m. ET to 9 p.m. ET. Watching any of these channels for four hours in that span will drop beta access. Additionally, watch time will accrue no matter which stream players watch among the group of official streamers.

As mentioned earlier, the list of streamers is extensive. The full list is included in the FAQ, but there is a total of 176 streamers as part of this event.

To get the drops, simply link your account to your Twitch account via the connections tab in your Twitch account’s settings. To download the beta, log into and choose the game Overwatch. Just above the Play button, where you can choose your game version, choose the Overwatch 2 Technical Beta option. Then, your game should download, and you can play it when it is ready.
