How to get a Nuke killstreak in Modern Warfare 3

Just like the old days, kind of

With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer being fully revealed, it has been 100% confirmed that a Nuke killstreak is in the game. When you call the Nuke in, a plane flies overhead and drops several bombs onto the map, ending the game you’re currently playing. It’s basically the same name and animation as the one currently in Modern Warfare 2.

While it’s not called the Tactical Nuke like it was in the original MW2, the fact that a Nuke is earnable on all of the original MW2 maps should be enough nostalgia for most players. However, the version of the Nuke in Modern Warfare 3 is not like the one back in 2009. You can’t simply select the killstreak from your menu and earn it that way. Instead, you need to complete a challenge in-game and earn the Nuke that way.

Below, you can see exactly how to go about earning your own Nuke in MW3.

Earning a Nuke killstreak in Modern Warfare 3

Since the Nuke, or the MGB as it’s called in-game, is essentially the same in MW3 as it is in this year’s MW2, it’s earned in the exact same way. You can’t equip the MGB as an earnable killstreak from your menu in the pre-game lobby. Instead, you need to go on a 30 gunstreak in multiplayer to earn the MGB.

This means you need to kill 30 enemies in a row using only your weapons or equipment. Kills from other streaks, like a Chopper Gunner or VTOL Jet, won’t count toward the 30 kills you need to call in an MGB.

Once you do reach that vaunted 30 gunstreak, you will receive the option to call in the MGB the same way you call in any other killstreak. After selecting the MGB, your character will pull out a phone, type in a code, and then a plane will appear overhead in the next few seconds. The plane then drops bombs onto the map and a bright light flashes, ending the game. Whatever team called in the MGB wins the game, regardless of the score at the time.

Things have certainly changed since the days of the original MW2 Tactical Nuke, so you have some extra work to do to earn yourself a Nuke in MW3.
