In terms of sheer effectiveness, there may not be a stronger scorestreak in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War than the War Machine. A powerful, long-lasting, and versatile weapon, not many can shut you down when you have this grenade launcher in your hands. However, no matter how strong it is, there are some ways to use it more productively. The most common use for the War Machine is to equip it at any given time and start wreaking havoc. While that’s certainly an enjoyable way to use the streak, there’s one other method that can help your overall gameplay.

Using the War Machine correctly in Black Ops Cold War

In regards to how you actually shoot the War Machine, there aren’t any real tips. Basically, just point to wherever you want to shoot, aim up slightly to compensate for the bullet drop, and then watch the kills pour in. That part of the scorestreak is pretty cut and dry.

However, it’s the actual moment players call it in that can use some direction. Most players equip the scorestreak as soon as they earn it or whenever they see a huge clump of enemies. Of course, these aren’t incorrect ways to use the War Machine by any means, but there is another way to maximize your score potential that a lot of players don’t take advantage of.

In Black Ops Cold War, the War Machine is treated like any other weapon. This means it can be used to go on Nuclear streaks (30 kills in a row) and earn additional scorestreaks. With this added bonus, you can use the launcher to earn a ton of score.

All you need to do is go on a regular gun streak first. Once you’ve racked up three to four kills in a row, equip the War Machine in a safe spot. Now, if you get any kills with the streak, your score will increase by a much wider margin since you’re already on a killstreak. This can lead to you earning your other streaks extremely quickly and net you more XP in the process.
