How to defeat The Warlord in MW3 Zombies

One of the final missions in Act 3

One of the final missions in Act 3 of Call of Duty MW3 Zombies is called “Storm the Castle,” and it requires you to defeat a boss called The Warlord.

While the mission explains you need to defeat The Warlord, it does not offer any information on how or where to find this particular boss. If you know where The Warlord is, though, that does not guarantee you can defeat them in one go, as they are extremely difficult to get past, especially when playing by yourself. Luckily, I have defeated The Warlord several times in MW3 Zombies, and now I’m here to pass my knowledge on to you so you can complete Storm the Castle.

Where is The Warlord in MW3 Zombies?

Before you can go about defeating The Warlord, you need to know where they are located. Fortunately, The Warlord is always at the same location in every match of Zombies. You can find the boss at the Legacy’s Fortress, which is located to the northwest of the Medium Threat Zone. It has a special icon on the map and is heavily guarded by enemy AI. Before heading into the fortress, though, you need to ensure you have a Legacy Fortress Keycard. This can only be obtained by completing a Mercenary Stronghold, drilling the safe, and taking the keycard from inside the safe.

Once you’re at the Legacy’s Fortress, getting to The Warlord is no picnic. When you approach the area from any direction, an attack chopper will immediately spawn and shoot at you. Before going inside the fortress, I highly recommend dealing with the chopper first, as it can be a real pain to deal with it and the enemies on the ground at the same time.

With the chopper dealt with, you still have dozens of AI to take out inside the fortress’ walls. Make sure to kill each AI methodically and don’t bite off more than you can chew. It’s important to defeat as many AI outside as possible because you eventually need to go inside the main building, which is the Legacy Fortress, where there are even more enemies waiting for you.

The Warlord is located on the top floor inside of an office in the building.

Once inside the building, The Warlord isn’t too difficult to defeat one-on-one. However, you have to deal with several enemies and other obstacles as well. As you progress through the building, you’ll find there are traps laid out on the ground, which you can defuse, as well as Suppression Mines located all over. Try to destroy as many of these traps as possible along with defeating all of the regular enemies.

Then, once it’s just you and The Warlord, whose name is “Legacy” in-game. They are usually hiding behind a desk at the end of the office and you can simply kill them by pumping a magazine into their body. I recommend having at least a Pack-A-Punched weapon for this, as The Warlord can be a bullet sponge if you’re using a base gun.

If you manage to defeat The Warlord, you can loot the safe in the room, which completes the Storm the Castle mission, and loot a Reward Rift in the next room. Just remember to grab Strauss’ Research if you’re trying to complete Storm the Castle and then exfil with it.
