After the success of the festival in Portugal last year, GG goes to Australia.
The next Girl Gamer Festival is set to run in Sydney, Australia. The event provides a great opportunity for “young girls and women across Oceania.” The festival gives girls the chance to compete in CS:GO, Overwatch, and Super Smash Bros. The competition will be run at the Concourse as part of VIVID Sydney on June 9 – 10. VIVID is a festival celebrating the intersection of Australia’s art, technology, and commerce, and it runs for almost a month.
We are proud to present the first GIRLGAMER Sydney Festival!

Girl Gamer will have a particularly awesome opportunity for women in CS:GO. The winners of the Girl Gamer CS:GO tournament will win an all-expenses-paid trip to the World Championships later this year. There isn’t just great esports on offer. The festival will also feature key note speakers, panels, cosplay comps, dance performances, career activations, and more. This comes at a great time when more women are getting into competitive gaming.
Tickets are already available and players are invited to sign up to compete. Critical Hit Entertainment is the proud partner and producer of the Girl Gamer Sydney Festival. Other organizations and patrons have also jumped on board. These include the Willoughby City Council, Logitech G, and Mogul Esports. The team have also chosen Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia as their charity.
Girl Gamer goes global
Today marks a big day of announcements from the organization. By the looks of the Girl Gamer festival’s website, the competition won’t just be going to Sydney. Seoul, Madrid, Sao Paulo, and Dubai are all on the cards for receiving these types of festivals.
We’ll keep you updated on announcements, competitions, and more. If you are excited about Girl Gamer, or there’s one coming to you, let us know in the comments. And let us know what else you hope to see there!
