First Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War teasers emerge in Warzone

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

After months and months of anticipation and silence, teasers are finally emerging for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Though the title isn’t officially confirmed, numerous sources and marketing materials have stated that exact title. This is also backed up by some recent teasers that went live in Call of Duty: Warzone. Some lucky players were simply playing a match of the battle royale and some strange things started to occur. Again, nothing is official, but this is almost certainly an indication that a reveal is coming soon.

Black Ops teasers in Warzone

Earlier in the week, Activision made it known that it would be revealing the next entry in the franchise a little differently. No specific details were given, but it was implied that Warzone would play a major factor. That implication seemed to come true this week.

A player by the name of “NutterButterAF” was playing the battle royale on Friday, and suddenly his screen began to act weirdly. There were some glitches in the display, and then the words “Know Your History” popped up on the screen. You can view the full clip below.

After the words “Know Your History” appeared on camera, the words “обреченына ее повторение” were spotted. This is in Russian, but translated to English it says “Doomed to repeat it.” Clearly, Activision is attempting to correlate the teasers with the time period of the new Black Ops title. Russia, or the Soviet Union, was the center of the Cold War and by extension, the first Black Ops game as well.

It’d be a complete shock if these teasers had to do with anything regarding Warzone. Activision sent mystery packages to Call of Duty influencers with instructions to not open until August 10. So, it’s likely we’ll get some answers from those boxes and perhaps more teasers in Warzone.
