Since their introduction in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, finishing moves have been one of the worst ways to die in Call of Duty. They’re essentially a way for players to embarrass their opponents. Vanguard has brought finishing moves back to multiplayer and newer players should know how to perform one, for a few reasons.
The first and most obvious reason is to ensure they can get revenge on an enemy who performed the move on them. The other reason is less cynical, though, as players need to perform the move to unlock a certain Operator and calling card in Vanguard multiplayer. Below, players can see exactly how they can perform a finishing move in Vanguard.
Performing a finishing move in Vanguard
The process to start and complete a finishing move is perhaps easier than some players think. It only involves one button press and can be done rather simply. However, the caveat with the move is that players need to catch an enemy in a precise situation.
To begin, players need to try and flank around an enemy or get behind them in some way. Whether this is getting lucky or being intentionally sneaky, players simply need to face the back of an enemy. The next step is to walk up to that enemy, quietly, and make sure they’re standing still or moving slowly enough to get about a foot away from them.
Next, all players need to do is hold their melee keybind behind that enemy. The holding of the melee button is vital, as players don’t want to accidentally kill or alert the enemy with a melee punch. If players hold the melee button long enough, they’ll enter the finishing move state and take out the enemy. Although, this is provided a teammate doesn’t steal the kill when players are in the finishing move animation or an enemy doesn’t kill them while they’re performing it.
That’s all there is to performing a finishing move in Vanguard.
