We found out about the NA LCS and EU LCS All-Stars yesterday, and now Korea and China have spoken. For the LCK, Korea will be sending SKT T1’s Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and Bae “Bang” Jun-sik. China will be sending RNG’s Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao and Liu “Mlxg” Shi-Yu.

Korea’s Consolation Prize

This year has been pretty disappointing for Korea in the League of Legends world. Not only would they lose at the Mid-Season Invitational, but they would also lose at Rift Rivals. The final straw would be their failure at the 2018 World Championship. All of Korea’s representative’s would exit the tournament early; Invictus Gaming would stun favorites KT Rolster, Gen.G wouldn’t even pass the group stage, and Cloud9 would eliminate Afreeca Freecs in the quarterfinals.

It is a year that many fans and players would love to forget, as the Korean dynasty has officially fallen. However, they will still need to send two players to the 2018 All-Star event this year. Obviously, no Korean fans wanted to send any Worlds-bound members to All-Stars, due to their lackluster performance. As a result, they will resort to a fallen legend, Faker. SKT T1 would have one of their worst years yet. This was the first time SKT would miss Worlds in their entire history. However, many people believe that Faker would have put up more of a fight against the competition. The “Unkillable Demon King” would receive an impressive amount of votes, 35.4% of them, in fact.

Meanwhile, Bang would get votes due to a promise he would make prior to the final tally:

According to Bang, if he and Cloud9’s Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi are voted into the All-Star event, they will do a Xayah and Rakan couple’s cosplay. Clearly, this tactic worked as both he and Sneaky are going to All-Stars. We wonder who will be who? Rumor has it, that Sneaky wants to be Xayah, but we will have to wait and see.

China sends RNG

Although China’s hopes at Worlds has not faded away yet, their strongest team has definitely fallen. Royal Never Give Up was one of the big favorites heading into the tournament. After a strong group stage, RNG would have an unlikely fall against Europe’s G2 Esports. Their hope lies now with Invictus Gaming, who had an unlikely upset over Korea’s top team, KT Rolster. Still, China is sending Uzi and MLXG to All-Stars, and it is well-deserved.

Before their elimination, Uzi was playing like the best ADC in the world. In fact, many say that Uzi was arguably the best player in the world. His mechanics and game sense is off the charts, and although he isn’t battling for the greatest prize of them all, he should have some fun at All-Stars. MLXG was also very good for RNG while the team would play in South Korea. However, their efforts were for naught, as they would drop in five games in a tightly contested series. We will see if their brothers will be able to bring the trophy home for their country!
