North American esports organization Evil Geniuses has announced the signing of former Dignitas assistant coach Connor “Artemis” Doyle. His addition comes shortly after the same team signed former Counter Logic Gaming head coach Heo “Irean” Yeong-cheol for its League of Legends roster.

“So excited for this challenge and to join Evil Geniuses,” Artemis said. “Winning and excellence are at the core of EG’s culture and I’m grateful for the opportunity to uphold those values in 2020 and beyond.”

Artemis started off as a competitive collegiate player for Columbia College in the bot lane. He moved on to teams like Blue Rose Gaming, Super Nova, and Lourdes University in the support role. His first coaching position came with teams like AZIO White and GG Esports Academy in the amateur Upsurge Premier League. He later joined Clutch Gaming’s Academy team.

Unfortunately, the Academy team placed dead last during 2019’s North American Academy Spring Split with 3 wins and 15 losses. Artemis also later helped out on the coaching staff for Clutch Gaming’s main lineup in the 2019 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Spring Split, which finished second to last. The same results played out during the Academy team’s Summer Split. However, the main roster rebounded from its initial poor performance to take a fifth-place finish in the 2019 LCS Summer Split.

During this time, a merger happened with North American esports organization Dignitas. While the Clutch Gaming roster went on to be eliminated by Counter Logic Gaming in the Summer Split Playoffs, it made a run for the World Championships in the Regional Finals. Clutch Gaming defeated Team SoloMid 3 – 2 in The Gauntlet and proceeded to Worlds.

The team ended up getting swept with the stiff competition at the 2019 World Championships, but Artemis has shown his skill as a coach in the LCS. Evil Geniuses’ roster currently consists of jungler Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen, support Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam, top laner Colin “Kumo” Zhao, AD carry Bae “Bang” Jun-sik, and the reportedly-signed mid laner Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro.

Many of these players are great on their own, but it will be up to the coaching staff to win against continuous LCS powerhouse Team Liquid. What do you think about Evil Geniuses’ chances in 2020?
