Call of Duty: Vanguard is finally out in the open and the details surrounding the game are public knowledge. From the 20 maps coming to multiplayer to a new Warzone integration, there’s much to talk about when it comes to Vanguard. However, many fans would much rather play the game than talk about its features. And, if players have the money to pre-order Vanguard, they can have access to an open alpha and beta happening soon.
Activision has yet to confirm the open alpha but the leaks going around the community are all but set in stone. As for the open beta, Activision stated they would have more information “at a later date” but there are minimal details surrounding it. Those details and other leaks about the Vanguard open alpha and beta are found below.
Vanguard open Alpha and Beta
The first date on the calendar is for the open alpha, which seemingly only contains the new Champion of the Hill multiplayer mode. This mode is played tournament-style and features battles between players in 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 gameplay. The goal is to be the last team standing on game mode-specific maps.
The leaked image for the open alpha confirms that Champion of the Hill is the only mode available. It also appears to be for PlayStation players only, but that could change in the coming weeks. The exact date for the open alpha is reportedly at the end of Aug. but that hasn’t been confirmed yet. Activision could release details on the Vanguard open alpha when they show off multiplayer gameplay on Aug. 22 during CDL Champs.
Additionally, there are more concrete details surrounding the open beta. While Activision has yet to give a date, the community knows it will take place sometime in September or October of 2021. Players who pre-order any edition of Vanguard will also receive early access to the beta. If past years are any indication, PlayStation 4 and 5 players will unlock the beta one weekend in advance. This is followed by the rest of the platforms gaining access the next weekend.
Players who decide to pre-order digitally will receive two weapon blueprints that are usable when Vanguard launches.
For fans who don’t pre-order Vanguard, there is reportedly a completely free beta period happening after the initial early access weekends. However, that has yet to be confirmed by Activision.
The next month or so should be an exciting time for Call of Duty fans. Keep an eye out for additional gameplay coming during CDL Champs and possibly Gamescom from Aug. 24-26.
