Ethan leaves CS:GO to join 100 Thieves Valorant roster

Ethan “Ethan” Arnold, formerly of Evil Genius’ Counter Strike: Global Offensive team, has joined 100 Thieves’ Valorant roster to replace Quan “Dicey” Tran.

Ethan played a critical role in Evil Geniuses’ success in recent years, including the team’s win against Astralis at ESL One: New York 2019. However, Dicey was also a key piece to the puzzle that won 100 Thieves First Strike in December, leaving some questioning the motive behind this move.

100 Thieves announced that Ethan would replace Dicey at the upcoming qualifier tournament, though Dicey has not been officially released from the team yet despite his teammates wishing him the best on Twitter. Dicey himself even tweeted out that he was thankful for his time with 100 Thieves and that he will be back.

More CS:GO talent leaves for Valorant

North American CS:GO has struggled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced all events online. Some rosters, like 100 Thieves, disbanded entirely, and others are losing more members to Riot Games’ First Person Shooter. Gen. G Esports, Team Liquid and Chaos have all lost notable players. Evil Geniuses, who have been struggling at recent international tournaments, have now lost their prized Rifler, too.

Ethan began playing competitive CS:GO in early 2016 on an amateur roster by the name Team Prospects. He went on to play with top-tier teams such as Counter Logic Gaming, NRG Esports and, most recently, Evil Geniuses.

Ethan now joins the CS:GO godfathers Nick “Nitr0” Cannella, Spencer “Hiko” Martin and Josh “Steel” Nissan on 100 Thieves. In replacing a young talent like Dicey, he will focus on the transition to a new title. Ethan will play his first official Valorant match when the third VCT North American closed qualifiers kicks off March 4.
