ESL Gaming announces ESL One Fall: Bootcamp Edition

Twelve teams will compete for $400,000

ESL Gaming announced a new Dota tournament, ESL One Fall: Bootcamp Edition, to fill the three month void before The International 10. The organization is inviting the 12 teams directly invited to the International 10 to compete in their Stockholm studio from Aug. 21-29 for a chance at $400,000.

ESL One Fall: Bootcamp Edition will be the first event produced in ESL’s new Stockholm studio. The tournament will also be one of the few Dota Pro Circuit independent events that occur throughout the year. This means that there are no DPC points on the line for participation in the tournament. Gaining DPC points during this time would be meaningless anyway as all invited teams for The International 10 have been determined.

The format for ESL One Fall: Bootcamp Edition

ESL One Fall: Bootcamp Edition will feature open qualifiers from Aug. 7-8 and closed qualifiers from Aug. 9-11. As for the main tournament, teams that make it out of the qualifier will play in a best-of-two round robin Group Stage from Aug. 21-24. Teams that make it out of the Group Stage will play in a best-of-three double-elimination playoff bracket. Finally, a champion will be crowned with a best-of-five grand finals match. The playoffs will occur from Aug. 26-29.

“We are looking forward to giving teams an opportunity to test and sharpen their skills in preparation of TI 10,” Dirk Niemeyer, Senior Product Manager for Dota 2 at ESL Gaming, said. “But more importantly, we are looking at a highly competitive, $400,000 tournament with top-tier teams and talents. It will be a great Dota 2 show.”

The teams that have been invited so far include T1, Alliance, Team Liquid, Team Spirit and Thunder Predator. The rest of the teams are yet to be announced.

For more information, the ESL website has information on the tournament. ESL can also be followed on Twitter and Facebook.
