The Intel Grand Slam battle continues
Team Liquid picked up the Intel Grand Slam Season 2 by doing it in record time of 144 days. This incredible achievement has forced ESL’s hand, and it has adjusted the rules ahead of Intel Grand Slam Season 3. This includes certain events being a bit more prestigious than others.
Team Liquid are already ahead in Season 3 of the championship as they’ve found yet another success at IEM Chicago, right after ESL One Cologne where they won the event and received the gold bars, as well as a $1,000,000 cash prize.
Astralis looking to regain their throne
The year 2018 was definitely the year of Astralis. Team Liquid have been dubbed the “American Astralis” despite failing to overcome the Danish side on numerous LAN finals. Astralis bagged the $1 million cash prize in the very first season of the Intel Grand Slam. IEM Beijing is going to give the Danes an ample opportunity to give Team Liquid a scare.
Having both of those teams attend the event is going to be joyful, especially for the home Asian crowd.
The prize pool of IEM Beijing is the same as before, standing at $250,000.
The remaining spots are as follows:
- Invite #3
- Invite #4
- Invite #5
- Asia Qualifier
- China Qualifier
- Europe slot
Who will these spots belong to? We are sure to find out soon enough.
