ESL has announced a $10,000 MSP Championship for Arena of Valor. The competition around the MOBA game will be endorsed by automobile company Mercedes-Benz and mobile provider Yoodo. Digital entertainment platform Garena will also support it. The winner will get the chance to be the MSP representative at 2019’s Arena of Valor International Championship.

The tournament will feature eight teams from Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines. Two of these eight teams will join via invitation, while the other six will have to compete for the spots. The two invited teams consist of last season’s Valor Cup’s finalists. This includes Malaysia’s M8HEXA and Philippines’ Liyab Esports.

“We have brought our National Championship product into Southeast Asia last year and we are excited to expand the program into more esports titles and countries,” wrote Nick Vanzetti, the Senior Vice President of ESL for the Asia-Pacific Japan region. “We are pleased to be working with Garena on the opportunity to host the ESL MSP Championship as part of their ecosystem and we will continue to align our goals in shaping a sustainable ecosystem for Arena of Valor in the MSP region.”

ESL will hold open qualifiers to determine which teams make up the remaining six. There will be three open qualifiers in total, with the top two teams chosen from each of these events. Teams can sign up for the event on ESL Gaming’s website. The three qualifier events will take place through an online format on August 13, 17, and 20.

The final eight teams will then be divided into two groups of four teams each. The top two teams of each group will advance to the playoffs. Teams will compete in group stage matches between August 28 and September 22. Matches take place every Wednesday and Sunday.

The playoffs will consist of a best-of-five double-elimination format on September 21 and 22. Then, the finals will be a best-of-seven match up. The official ESL Asia Facebook and YouTube pages will broadcast all matches live.

It’s good to see ESL hosting events for Arena of Valor. However, you will not yet find much information about the event on the main ESL website. Have you ever played Arena of Valor? Let us know in the comments, and keep up with all of the latest MOBA news and content here at Daily Esports.
